Go ahead, close your eyes and think of a good
friend. How did the two of you meet? What attracted you to each
other? Do you share common values and goals? What brought you
both closer together and strengthened your relationship? Would
you consider this a life long friendship? I bet you have some
pretty good memories right about now. Me, too.
As you know, budding friendships are most often
founded and built on emotional ties and shared perspectives.
Maybe you both enjoy playing sports, watching movies or dancing
the night away. Emotion plays a very strong role in building
the foundation of friendship.
But moving a new friendship to the next level
requires rational reasoning. Sure, emotional ties are great
for casual friends but you really want more out of a relationship
with a good, close friend. You begin to look for traits like
trust, loyalty, and honor. Chances are, you found exactly these
traits in the friend who is currently on your mind.
A life long friendship is grown and cultivated
with all of the traits mentioned above and more. Its more
than a simple acquaintance, its a life long commitment
built on years of shared experiences, respect, mutual trust
and admiration.
Now that youre feeling all warm and fuzzy
about your dearest chums, youre probably wondering
what does all this have to do with advertising? Good question!
